Vue d'ensemble

VERTIGRIP is a versatile vertical lifeline system by the Italian manufacturer Rothoblaas, designed to secure workers moving up and down fixed ladders and vertical structures at height. Made entirely of stainless steel, it is offered in two configurations: VERTIGRIP ON LADDER, whose stainless-steel structure attaches directly to a fixed ladder without any additional support for fast, seamless installation; and VERTIGRIP ON WALL, which anchors onto wood, steel, concrete or CLT sub-structures, with an adjustable standoff distance from the wall and tolerance for facades inclined up to 15° from vertical. The user travels along an 8 mm stainless-steel cable via a fall-arrest slider available in a semi-automatic version (VERTSLIDE) or a fully automatic version (VERTSLIDEPAS) with an all-metal, unlimited-lifespan energy absorber. Positioned as a lightweight, durable and low-maintenance solution for frequent vertical access, VERTIGRIP suits ladders, industrial facades, silos, chimneys and towers on construction sites and industrial facilities across Senegal, distributed locally by STI SARL as an official Rothoblaas partner.

How it works

The operator wears a full-body harness connected by a lanyard to a slider that runs freely along a stainless-steel cable stretched between an upper EN 795 Type A anchor and a lower anchor. Intermediate brackets, spaced at a maximum of 5 metres apart, guide the cable along the ladder or wall over a total line length of up to 200 metres. With the semi-automatic VERTSLIDE slider, the operator manually unclips and re-clips the carabiner at each intermediate bracket; with the fully automatic VERTSLIDEPAS slider, the crossing happens without any manual intervention. In the event of a fall, the energy absorber built into the slider limits the impact force transmitted to the user.

Certifications : EN 353-1:2014 + A1:2017 (guided-type fall arresters on a rigid/flexible anchor line); EN 795:2012 Type A (anchor points, applicable to the VERTOP17/VERTOP09 terminal anchors); also compliant with RfU 11.119 (Switzerland) and AS/NZS 1891.3:2020 (Australia/New Zealand).

Typical use

On an industrial site or storage silo in Senegal, a maintenance technician wearing a full-body fall-arrest harness clips a VERTSLIDEPAS slider onto the VERTIGRIP ON LADDER cable running alongside the fixed roof-access ladder. He climbs and descends safely without ever having to unclip at the intermediate brackets, allowing him to inspect roofing or rooftop equipment with continuous fall protection along the entire ladder.
