Vue d'ensemble

The Rothoblaas PATROL is a modular horizontal lifeline system designed to create continuous fall-protection anchor lines on roofs and facades, quickly installed on wood, metal or concrete substrates using a dedicated range of supports and accessories. Its double-function terminal, acting simultaneously as shock absorber and tensioner, and its automatic thermal-expansion compensation via an integrated spring mean the line never needs manual retensioning, while spans between supports can reach up to 15 m when fitted with the reinforced SPEAREVO absorber. The system is available in standard AISI 304 stainless steel and in a marine-grade AISI 316 version for coastal or corrosive environments, with a wide catalogue of intermediate elements, sliding devices and angle brackets to adapt the line to any roof geometry. Distributed in Senegal by STI SARL, PATROL gives maintenance technicians and installers a permanent, inspectable anchor point they can walk along continuously without disconnecting, all components remaining visible for the mandatory annual inspection.

How it works

PATROL forms a continuous horizontal anchor line: a Ø8 mm stainless steel cable runs from a fixed terminal (PATROLTERM) to a combined tensioner-absorber (SPEAR or SPEAREVO) that also compensates automatically for thermal expansion via an integrated spring, so the line never needs manual re-tensioning. The cable is held at regular intervals by intermediate supports fixed to wood, metal or concrete, and mobile sliding devices (SLIDE1, SLIDE2, OHSLIDE) let a user's fall-arrest lanyard pass over each support without disconnecting. Angle brackets (PASANG, PAREX, PARIN, PATROLANG, OHANG) allow the line to follow corners and changes in direction on roofs and facades, and every connection is made with standard tools — no crimping required — so the whole system stays visible and simple to inspect at the mandatory 12-month check.

Typical use

On the flat roof of an industrial or commercial building in Dakar, a maintenance technician needs to regularly check air handling units and roof drains along the parapet. A Rothoblaas PATROL line is installed along the full length of the roof edge, anchored on the concrete upstand with corner brackets to follow the building's geometry. The technician clips a mobile fall arrester onto the cable at the access point and can then walk the entire perimeter without ever unclipping, since the sliding device passes automatically over the intermediate supports. If a fall occurs, the SPEAREVO tensioner-absorber dissipates the energy and limits the load transmitted to the anchor points, while the whole system remains inspectable at a glance for the mandatory annual check.
