The Rothoblaas GREEN LINE is a ballasted fall-arrest lifeline designed specifically for flat green roofs (slope up to 5°) that cannot or should not be drilled. Because it rests entirely on the roof surface under its own weight, it avoids any penetration of the waterproofing membrane and eliminates the thermal bridges that anchor bolts would otherwise create — a decisive advantage on insulated, vegetated, or membrane-sensitive rooftops. The system is built from a small number of components — GREENSUP terminal/intermediate bases in AISI 316L stainless steel, a fibreglass-reinforced GREENCARPET load-spreading tarpaulin, a GREENHEAD locking head, GREENCLAMPS rope clamps and a continuous Ø8 mm stainless steel cable — which keeps assembly fast regardless of the ballast material chosen (gravel, pavers, or the green roof's own substrate). Once the vegetation has grown back over the installed line, GREEN LINE has a very low visual impact while still providing 360° multidirectional fall protection for maintenance personnel working on the roof. It is distributed in Senegal by STI SARL (Sénégal Technologie Industriel), official Rothoblaas partner.
GREEN LINE is a ballasted (non-penetrating) fall-arrest lifeline: stainless steel GREENSUP terminal/intermediate bases are simply set down on the roof waterproofing, spaced along the desired path, and connected by a continuous Ø8 mm 7x7 stainless steel cable (AISI 316) locked at each end with a GREENHEAD locking head. A GREENCARPET tarpaulin (fibreglass-reinforced, 3x3 m per unit, with an external cone) is laid beneath each base to spread the load and protect the membrane, and the whole assembly is then held in place purely by the weight of the ballast (gravel, pavers, or the green roof's own growing substrate) — no anchor bolts, no roof penetrations. Once the vegetation layer is reinstated over the tarpaulin, the system becomes almost invisible while still supporting multi-directional (360°) loading for users connected via GREENCLAMPS rope clamps.
Certifications : System designed in accordance with EN 795:2012 (class C — anchor device with flexible horizontal lifeline), CEN/TS 16415:2013 (requirements for anchor devices with multiple simultaneous users), and UNI 11578:2015 (Italian standard for permanent fall-arrest anchor systems). CE marking as specified in the technical documentation.
On a commercial building with a flat extensive green roof (slope ≤5°), GREEN LINE is installed directly on top of the waterproofing layer without any drilling: the GREENSUP bases are placed on the GREENCARPET tarpaulin and then ballasted (gravel, stone, or growing substrate depending on the finish) before the vegetation fully covers the system. Maintenance technicians (servicing rooftop HVAC units, cleaning solar panels, inspecting the waterproofing) can then anchor safely to the continuous stainless steel cable — with the roof membrane never pierced and no thermal bridge ever created.
