Advanced detection, voice evacuation, gas detection and extinguishers — the complete EN54-certified range from UK manufacturer Protec.
Protec Fire and Security Group Ltd is a British manufacturer and distributor of fire-safety equipment, based in Nelson, England. STI distributes their full range in Senegal: advanced aspirating detection, conventional detection, voice evacuation/public address, gas detection and portable fire protection — all approved to European EN54 / BS EN3 standards.
Protec's Cirrus HYBRID range of aspirating smoke detectors (ASD) combines two detection technologies in a single housing: Cloud Chamber Detection (CCD), which identifies optically invisible combustion particles from the very earliest stages of a fire, and light-scattering optical detection (SCD) for more conventional visible smoke. Both technologies operate independently and cross-reference their signals through Smart Signal algorithms, confirming a genuine alarm across a much wider fire spectrum while sharply reducing false alarms — critical for server rooms, data centres, warehouses, cold stores and other sensitive environments.
Dual-technology aspirating detector (Cloud Chamber + optical scattering) covering up to 4 sampling pipes, with a 7-inch colour touchscreen, live video from up to 6 IP cameras and a 24,000-event log.
Up to 4 pipes • 7" touchscreen • up to 6 IP cameras • 20-28 VDC • IP30 • EN 54-17/EN 54-20, UKCA, CE
Typical use: Data centres, warehousing (lithium batteries, sensitive goods), cold stores — ultra-early detection before any visible fire outbreak.
Aspirating smoke detector from Protec's range, related to the Cirrus HYBRID, with an LCD display and front-panel programming controls, designed for a sampling-pipe network drawing ambient air.
Aspirating detection • LCD display • 4-pipe housing
Typical use: Same sensitive environments as the Cirrus HYBRID, as an entry-level aspirating detection solution.
Remote display and programming unit for Protec aspirating detectors, with a touchscreen showing system status and a configuration interface accessible away from the main detector.
Remote touchscreen • system status • remote programming accessory
Typical use: Control rooms far from the main detector, for centralised supervision without adding extra panels.
Range of sampling-pipe network accessories for Protec aspirating detectors: rigid tube, T-couplings, elbows, mounting clips and sleeves, available in several colours.
Pipe + fittings (T, elbow) • mounting clips • sleeves
Typical use: Essential for any aspirating-detection deployment (Cirrus HYBRID, ProPoint PLUS) — false ceilings, service ducts, server rooms.
Conventional fire detection is a system architecture where devices (detectors, manual call points, sounders) are wired in zones to a panel that indicates which zone is in alarm rather than the exact triggering device. Protec (a UK manufacturer/distributor based in Nelson, England) offers a complete range for this type of system, designed to be scalable and suited to small and medium-sized buildings (offices, shops, workshops, schools).
Conventional optical light-scattering smoke detector, designed for offices, shops, corridors and server rooms. Discreet anti-tamper lock and 360° alarm LED.
16-30V DC • IP21C • 98g • EN54 & AS7240 Part 7
Typical use: Offices, shops, corridors, server rooms — standard visible-smoke detection.
Conventional heat detector with a fixed 56°C trigger temperature and fast response, for environments where smoke alone isn't a reliable indicator (kitchens, dusty workshops).
56°C trigger • fast response • low-profile housing
Typical use: Commercial kitchens, dusty or humid workshops, garages — where a smoke detector would trigger false alarms.
Manual call point with a resettable break-glass element and 'plug and play' installation via a separate terminal block. Unauthorised cover removal automatically triggers the alarm.
16-30V DC • IP24D • 93-144g • EN54 Part 11
Typical use: Corridors, emergency exits, entrance halls — human reporting alongside automatic detection.
8-zone conventional control panel, distinguishing a manual call point alarm from an automatic detector alarm. 72-hour standby battery backup.
8 zones • 100-240V AC • 500m/zone max • EN54-2 & EN54-4, BS5839-1
Typical use: SMEs, schools, medium-sized shops needing an economical 8-zone category A fire safety system.
High-power wall-mounted electronic sounder, 32 selectable tones, adjustable level (75/85/100 dB(A) at 1m). Weatherproof IP65, indoor/outdoor.
100dB(A)@1m • 18-56V DC • IP65 • EN54 Part 3
Typical use: Industrial and outdoor buildings (car parks, yards) thanks to its IP65 rating and high sound output.
Voice evacuation / public address complements traditional alarm sirens: instead of a simple audible signal, the system broadcasts clear spoken messages (live or pre-recorded) to guide evacuation, reducing confusion and panic — particularly in large open spaces or sites spread across several buildings. It's a natural addition for a fire-safety integrator, since it links directly with detection: a zone going into alarm can automatically switch the system to targeted evacuation messages.
Lockable wall-mounted emergency microphone station, compliant with EN54-16/ISO 7240-16/BS 5839-8, for all-call broadcasts across a site via LCD screen and mandatory status LEDs.
EN54-16, ISO 7240-16, BS 5839-8 • dual redundant output • optional IP/PoE
Typical use: Security posts, reception desks, control rooms — to trigger an all-call announcement across an entire site (hotel, shopping centre, factory).
Modular paging console (desk unit + gooseneck microphone), 10 to 50 broadcast zones depending on model, live/delayed/pre-recorded announcements, EN54 compliant.
10-50 zones • microSD card • redundant output
Typical use: Large multi-zone sites (airports, shopping centres, campuses) needing zone-targeted announcements.
Weatherproof ABS horn-type loudspeaker, 10 W, for industrial/outdoor sound coverage. 100V line, several impedance taps.
10W/100V • SPL 97dB@1W/1m • IP66
Typical use: Warehouses, car parks, outdoor yards, noisy industrial sites.
Flush-mount 2-way ceiling loudspeaker, 20 W, certified EN54-24, steel fire dome and 150°C thermal fuse.
EN54-24 • 20W/100V • SPL 94dB@1W/1m
Typical use: Offices, shops, lobbies — evacuation message broadcast from a false ceiling.
Self-contained wall-mounted voice-alarm/PA panel, compliant EN54-16, 3 to 10 amp channels (up to 2000 W), IP audio network, 64 pre-recorded messages.
EN54-16 • up to 2000W • IP network up to 32 units
Typical use: Small and medium sites (hotels, schools, shops) wanting standalone evacuation sound without a dedicated equipment rack.
Gas detection covers control panels, fixed detectors, monitors and indicators that continuously monitor for toxic gases, oxygen deficiency/enrichment, or flammable gases/vapours. This range extends the offering beyond fire risk alone, for industrial, commercial or technical sites where a gas leak poses a direct danger to personnel.
Control and display panel supervising up to four detectors simultaneously, multilingual screen, stand-alone or interfaced with third-party systems.
IP65 • up to 4 detectors • 100-240V AC / 20-30V DC

Typical use: Large multi-detector sites (GAS 640) needing a repeated display in several rooms or guard posts.
EN54-certified sounder/beacon, 32 tones, quick-connect 'TimeSaver' base, IP21 or IP65 versions.
EN54 • 32 tones • 106dB max
Typical use: Industrial and commercial sites needing a versatile sounder, suited to both fire and gas-detection alarms.
Protec's portable extinguisher range covers the main families for buildings and vehicles: CO2, AFFF foam, ABC powder, water and wet chemical for cooking-oil fires. All models are BS EN3 approved (CE/Kitemark marked) and cover the main fire classes (A, B, C, F) — the essential foundation of any fire-safety offering.
